Kaviza VDI-in-a-boxTM Components Kaviza VDI-in-a-boxTM consolidates all the desktop management and provisioning functionality into a single virtual appliance, the kMGR. This is the only required component needed to deploy and run Kaviza virtual desktops. The kMGR virtual appliance runs on industry standard hypervisors and automates the provisioning of virtual desktops, load balancing, connection brokering, user management, and provides built-in high-availability. By default, Kaviza virtual desktops can be accessed via a browser.
Kaviza offers two additional optional components: a Java standalone client and a Gateway server.
Kaviza Java Client. A standalone client that provides access to Kaviza virtual desktops without a browser - this is useful in kiosks, labs and other locked down environments where a browser may not be available on the end-point.
Kaviza Gateway provides remote access to Kaviza virtual desktops from outside the firewall without requiring a VPN. The Gateway can be used to provide employees secure access to their desktops from home, or any place with an internet connection. The Kaviza Gateway uses SSL-tunnelling.
