The PHD Virtual Difference
Delivering the highest performance and most scalable cross-platform backup solutions on the market, PHD Virtual Technologies has been transforming data protection for virtual IT environments since 2006. Our mission is to preserve the agility, flexibility and cost savings that drive your IT virtualization goals. PHD Virtual’s unique architecture for backup and recovery is purpose built for virtual environments, not tied to legacy or physical constraints. You can see what makes us different from two perspectives:
Scalable and Cost Effective Backup: - PHD backup uses virtual appliances in the virtual layer without involving the server console which means no impact on production. PHD can run up to 16 VBAs per host so it can also scale as your virtual environment grows. - PHD performs global source-side deduplication so you will see real savings on storage capacity while reducing network bandwidth loads to the backup target. On average, our customers experience deduplication compression ratios of 25:1. This is much more effective than job-based dedupe or null set removal and compression. - PHD takes full advantage of Change Block Tracking (CBT), resulting in faster differential and dedupe backups which save you time, helping you meet your critical backup window. - In addition to savings on storage and network I/O, with PHD there are no additional costs for physical proxy servers and additional OS licenses.
Robust and Reliable Restoration: - PHD has always believed that data verification provides increased confidence in the ability to restore backed up data. While some vendors are just beginning to explore this capability, we already verify that the data has been properly written to the backup target. - PHD enables self healing backups so if a sector has gone bad on a disk or you have a network glitch, you can heal that block of data transparently to the user. - PHD helps with day-to-day support operations, since you can perform file level restoration so that you can assist users without having to restore the whole virtual machine. - PHD’s unique self-restore capability means that you can restore data without access to the PHD software or license keys. This ensures you can meet your recovery requirements in the event of a disaster as well as providing long-term data protection for compliance. - PHD Virtual takes pride in providing our customers enterprise-ready products that are purpose built for large virtualization environments.
