This page spends most of its space on a single detail from the vendor's documentation, because it is the one most often misunderstood: **which versions actually come along.** ARJ Distribution sells exclusively through resellers and MSPs in the Nordics — Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. We never sell directly to end customers. > The page comes back. Attachments are listed with both the latest and previous versions.** Which versions are included in the backup For pages, blog posts and comments the vendor lists the latest version. For attachments it lists both the latest and previous versions. Which versions the vendor lists Pages, blog posts and comments Latest version version −1 version −2 … not listed Attachments Latest version version −1 version −2 previous versions listed The dashed boxes mean the vendor's list **does not state** previous versions for those content types — not that we know they are missing. We have asked the question. **Why this is worth raising first:** the common incident in Confluence is not a whole space disappearing. It is somebody overwriting a page and needing back what was there before. That customer is thinking about version history when they hear the word backup. If the backup runs daily, yesterday's version is in yesterday's copy — for as long as that copy is kept under the customer's retention rules. **But that is not the same as Confluence's own version history:** one gives you a version per backup run, the other every single edit. The difference is worth having clear in your head before a customer meeting starts. ## What is protected From the vendor's own list, split across the three levels it uses: | Level | What it covers | | --- | --- | | **Organisation** | Users, groups with name and members, and look-and-feel settings for colours. | | **Space content** | Pages — active, live and draft — with body, author, date, status, title, labels, restrictions, emoji and header image. Blog posts with the equivalent. Comments, both footer and inline, active and resolved — and for inline comments, where in the text they belong. Attachments with content, name, status and properties. Folders and smart links. | | **Space settings** | Content order, details such as key, categories, description, home content and name, layout, plus templates and blueprints with body, description, labels, title and type. | **Restore is to the organisation**, and according to the vendor it covers spaces as well as users and groups. ## Databases and whiteboards Two content types are particularly important to be clear about, because they are new enough that the customer may have started using them in earnest. > **Databases and whiteboards are listed with metadata only — the title.** The content of a database or a whiteboard is not mentioned in the vendor's list. For a customer who uses whiteboards for sketching, it does not matter. For a customer who has moved their planning or their decision records there, it is decisive — and it is worth asking explicitly, because it is not something a customer brings up on their own. ## What we do not promise yet The vendor's page states **no excluded resources and no restore limitations**. That is not the same as there being none, and three things are therefore open. - **Cloud, Data Center and Server.** The vendor's resource list does **not** say which hosting types it applies to. We have put the question to them — **ask us before you promise anything to a customer who is not on Cloud.** - **Previous versions of pages.** That the list states the latest version does not have to mean the history is missing — it means it is not written there. That *attachments* are explicitly listed with previous versions makes the difference worth asking about, and we have. - **The content of databases and whiteboards.** Same thing: metadata is listed, content is not mentioned. We would rather write this out than fill the gaps with assumptions. **If you need an answer, we take it to the vendor**, and the answer then ends up here for all partners. ## Four questions to ask the customer 1. **What is the common incident — somebody overwriting a page, or something bigger?** If it is the first, the conversation is about versions and about how often the backup runs. 2. **Do you use whiteboards or databases for anything that matters?** Ask it directly — the customer will not think of it themselves. 3. **Are there routines in Confluence that you have to be able to show?** For a customer with certifications, Confluence is often where the management system actually lives. 4. **Cloud, Data Center or Server?** Ask us before promising anything for anything other than Cloud. ## Why through a distributor > We do not sell to end customers. That is not a courtesy — it is the business model: everything goes through you, and we never compete with you at your customer. What you get besides the licences: technical pre-sales help, support during a proof of concept, support in English and Swedish, and a named contact who knows your business instead of a ticket number. ## Getting started Tell us what the customer uses Confluence for, how large the environment is, and how often the backup needs to run.
