Stored where you choose, and restorable to a different platform than the one it came from. ARJ Distribution distributes GitProtect in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. We sell exclusively through resellers and managed service providers — never direct to end customers. This page is written for the partners who will sell and run it. GitProtect comes from Xopero. The repository is replicated, not protected — and the metadata around it, which is where much of the team’s actual work lives, often is not replicated at all. These are the situations a customer ends up in. - ### Human error A force push, a deleted branch, a project removed by someone who meant to remove a different one. By far the most common cause, and the one customers least expect. - ### Service outages GitHub, GitLab and Atlassian all have bad days. Without a copy of their own, the team simply stops. - ### Sync failures Data that quietly stops matching across environments, and nobody notices until something has to be restored. - ### Migration Moving between deployments or between tools without losing history and metadata on the way. - ### Insider actions Deliberate or careless, from inside the organisation. Access control does not undo what an authorised account already did. - ### Ransomware Repositories are a target like anything else, and an encrypted repository is an encrypted product. - ### Shared responsibility The provider guarantees its platform, not the customer’s data. The backup plan is set once and follows the organisation: new repositories are picked up without anyone adding them by hand. ### Bitbucket Repositories plus pull requests, issues, hooks and pipelines, to cloud or local storage. New repositories join the plan automatically, so the protection scales with the customer’s team rather than with your admin time. ### GitLab The whole environment: repositories, wikis, issues, merge requests, labels, webhooks, tags and deployment keys. Recoverable from any point in time, down to a single change. ## Beyond the repositories ### Azure DevOps Repositories and the parts around them that are harder to rebuild — pipelines, work items, boards, wikis and test plans — to cloud or on-premises storage. ### Jira Jira Software and Jira Service Management, including Assets and automation rules: projects, issues, workflows, roles, users and comments. A single issue can be restored without rolling back the project around it. ### Microsoft 365 Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, with immutable backups on the storage of your choice. The customer avoids one tool per system, and you avoid running several consoles for the same customer. ### Immutable copies Backups that cannot be altered after the fact, with unlimited retention and protection against ransomware. GitProtect runs as SaaS, on-premises or hybrid. The backups can go to Xopero’s cloud, to any S3 provider, or to storage the customer or you own — and to several of those at the same time. For a customer who has to keep data inside a particular jurisdiction, or off a particular provider’s platform, there is almost always a setup that can be defended in writing. It carries more weight here than for ordinary file backup. A repository holds the customer’s source code, and increasingly their build pipelines, deployment keys and secrets. Customers who have never given a thought to where their documents sit have usually given one to where that ends up. ## How you charge for it Talk to us before you quote. Licensing depends on which platforms are protected and how many users the customer has in them, and that user count is rarely the obvious number — a customer with a long tail of inactive accounts in Jira can end up quoted far too high if nobody checks first. We work through the individual case with you, send the price list, and tell you when Xopero changes prices or terms. ## What is needed from you — and what we do The buyer for this is rarely the IT manager. It is the development team, or whoever answers for compliance, and those are not always the people you already talk to at the customer. The hard part of selling GitProtect is usually getting into the right room, not the technology. **You need** access to connect GitProtect to the customer’s organisation on each platform, and a view of which repositories and projects are in scope. Setting it up is quick. What matters afterwards is that somebody checks the backups actually ran, and that a restore has been tried once before the day it is needed. **We do** the technical walkthrough with you, help with the first customer, and sit in on the meeting if you want us there. We keep track of licences and renewals. And we never sell direct to your customer. ## Frequently asked questions ### Is Git hosting not already a backup? No. A repository is replicated across the provider’s infrastructure, which protects against their hardware failing — not against a deletion, a bad force push, a compromised account or the provider closing the customer’s organisation. And the metadata around the code, where much of the team’s work actually sits, is often not replicated at all. ### Which platforms are covered? GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps and Jira — Jira Software and Jira Service Management, including Assets and automation rules — plus Microsoft 365. ### Does it work with self-hosted instances? Yes. Cloud and self-managed GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket, and Jira Cloud. ### Where is the backup stored? Where you decide: Xopero’s cloud, any S3 provider, or storage the customer or you own — or several of those at once. That is what makes it possible to answer a data residency requirement with something specific. ### Can a single issue or file be restored? Yes. Granular restore reaches an individual issue, file or repository without rolling back everything around it. Full disaster recovery exists for the case where the platform itself is unavailable. ### Can it restore to a different platform than the one backed up? Yes — across tools and across deployments, which also makes it a migration tool. It is worth testing in your own environment before you promise it to a customer. ### What does a customer’s security team usually ask for? Immutability, access control and an audit trail, and increasingly the certifications behind them. GitProtect holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and the console produces audit-ready reports. ### How do we charge for it? Licensing follows the platforms protected and the number of users in them.
