Do you sell direct to end customers?
No, never. All sales go through resellers and MSPs. If you are an end customer we will help you find a partner.
Is this the same product as Altaro VM Backup?
Yes. It is now called VM Backup and comes from Hornetsecurity. The Altaro name has been retired, and anything written about Altaro VM Backup applies to this product.
Which editions are there?
Three. Standard covers up to five virtual machines per hypervisor host, with sandbox restore and verification and offsite backup over WAN. Unlimited adds augmented inline deduplication, support for Hyper-V clusters and VMware vCenter, and several offsite locations. Unlimited Plus adds Azure Stack HCI support, WAN-optimised replication and cloud backup to Azure, Amazon S3 or Wasabi.
Does it back up free ESXi?
No. Free ESXi is not supported.
Where can the backups be stored?
On a local drive or a UNC share, with offsite copies to one or several locations, including swapped drives and an offsite backup server over WAN.
Does it handle Exchange and SQL?
Yes. Exchange Server and SQL virtual machines are supported, along with other applications that work with Microsoft's VSS writer.
