PCoIP zero clients are reaching end of life — what it means for Tera2 and Trusted Zero Clients
HP is winding down its PCoIP portfolio, and Omnissa has removed PCoIP from new Horizon releases. If you run zero clients built on Teradici Tera2 silicon — from any manufacturer — or 10ZiG Trusted Zero Clients, this page sets out what applies to the devices you already have, and what replaces them.

Tera2 zero clients have no upgrade path
This is the part that costs money, and it is worth being precise about. The dates above run to 2029, so nothing stops working next month. The problem is that a Tera2 zero client cannot be moved anywhere.
The Tera2 silicon reached end of life at the end of 2024 and supply is exhausted, so an existing fleet cannot be grown. The chip does not support Blast Extreme or the newer PCoIP Ultra features, so it cannot follow the platform. And the operating system on a Tera2 zero client cannot be replaced with anything else — the device was built for one protocol and ends with it.
That leaves one option for a Tera2 fleet: new endpoints. It is also why the planning window is now rather than 2029. Anyone who needs to expand a fleet, or to stay on a current Horizon release, has to move first.
Trusted Zero Clients: the devices do not stop working
If you have Trusted Zero Clients instead, the position is better. Every device holds a perpetual licence for the software on it, and that keeps running past 31 October 2026. The device is locked to the last supported version, 25.10, and receives no further updates. After end of life, the only assistance that remains from HP is help with installation and troubleshooting.
So nothing has to be done in a panic — but the clock starts now. A device without updates is a device whose security posture stands still while everything around it moves.
What this says about choosing endpoints
An endpoint tied to a single protocol depends on that protocol continuing to exist. Tera2 is the clearest example there is: it only ever worked with PCoIP, it cannot take another operating system, and when PCoIP goes there is nothing left to do with the hardware. The way to avoid repeating that is to buy endpoints whose software can be changed without changing the device.
What 10ZiG recommends instead
-
Modernized Zero Clients running NOS
10ZiG's recommendation for anyone on Trusted Zero Clients or Tera2 is to test and move to their NOS Zero Clients. There is no Trust Center dependency and no subscription. Management runs through 10ZiG Manager, which is free and has no user ceiling.
-
Blast Extreme and PCoIP Ultra in the same device
Unlike Tera2, a current 10ZiG endpoint handles both protocols. A Horizon estate can therefore move from PCoIP to Blast Extreme without changing hardware a second time.
-
Builds for every major platform
NOS versions exist for Microsoft, Citrix, Omnissa and the other major remote desktop platforms. Which platform the old clients connect to today does not decide whether a move is possible, only which build the new devices are ordered with.
-
The operating system can be changed later
Order devices for Citrix today and move to Omnissa or Cloud PC in three years, and the operating system is swapped for the version the new platform requires. This is the one thing Tera2 could not do, and the reason that fleet has to be replaced rather than migrated.
-
Or reuse hardware you already have
Thin clients reach several platforms from one device and can also run local applications such as a browser or a terminal emulator. And PCs that still work can be turned into managed endpoints with 10ZiG's software instead of buying new.

ARJ Distribution distributes 10ZiG across the Nordics and the Baltics, exclusively through resellers and MSPs. We never sell direct to end customers.
The recommended route is to start with a test, and 10ZiG makes that straightforward: evaluation units ship on a free 30-day trial, counted from the day they arrive according to courier tracking. At the end of the period the units are either bought at the agreed price or returned in resalable condition with their original packaging, cables and accessories. Extensions are possible when they are agreed before the 30 days are up.
We run that process for you. We send out the demo request form, pass it to 10ZiG once it comes back, and arrange the customs documentation — the units ship from the United Kingdom, so an import into the Nordics or the Baltics needs paperwork that is easier to get right once than to learn per shipment. 10ZiG's engineering team is then available for environment assessments and configuration support during the migration itself.
A Tera2 fleet is worth counting early. The devices cannot be bought any more, so a replacement plan spread across sites and budget years is easier to fund than one that arrives as an emergency.
Where to go next: Zero Clients for Cloud and VDI for the direct replacement, or Thin Clients for Cloud and VDI if you want one device to reach several platforms and run local applications.
